About the sculpture

The ‘King of the Rock’n’Roll Jungle’ was one of 100 lions exhibited as part of a public art event during the summer of 2010 in the world famous City of Bath in the UK.

Created by British artist Eric Anderson and designed to capture the spirit of Elvis, he first sculpted the classic oversized collar, the famous quiff of the hair and the curled lip. He then painstakingly added iconic images from the the earliest days of Sun Studio, through poses of the 50s & 60s to the heady days of Las Vegas, finally engraving Elvis’s army number on dog tags hung around ‘The Kings’ neck.
